How To Keep Animals From Jumping On The Roof
I take an elderly neighbour that leaves his door open at night for his beloved cat. I know that his cat is a handful, his drapes are shredded!
The problem is the cat climbs on my roof at night. My roof is flat and information technology is noisy and wakes me up. I and then have a hard time going back to sleep.
I tried the gallon water jugs in the yard. I practise get upward and effort to hose the cat, simply he has caught on to me.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to your local abode improvement heart and get a cheap exterior light with a motion sensor on it and a backyard sprinkling timing device that you adhere to your outside faucet. You're alee of me already aren't you?
Temporarily mountain this light fixture at the spot where the cat obtains access to the roof. Remove the light bulb and install a spiral-in socket in it's place. Plug in the timer and fix it for the shortest sprinkle cycle, attach the hose to a sprinkler on the roof and turn the h2o on at the faucet. Then when the cat jumps up on the roof, the movement sensor volition plough the sprinkler on, the cat jumps off and, after a few of those treatments, you tin can relax. Cats are smart and will avoid getting a bath from then on. Hope this helps.

Cats dislike the olfactory property of citrus. Place oranges, lemons, or grapefruit (whole or peels), and scatter them on the roof. If you can become upwardly in that location you can also spray the area with any lemon or citrus scented air spray direct onto the roof itself.
Please do non utilise moth balls. Moth assurance are toxic for cats and although I know you don't enjoy its visits I am sure you lot would not similar to kill it. Moth assurance can kill or seriously impact a cat causing if not decease, expensive vet bills which your neighbour could attempt to claim from yous. Skillful luck. Yous may have to replace citrus from time to time as they become dried out.

Cats do not similar the odour of moth balls. I was told one time that y'all can place a styrofoam cup in your gardens full of moth assurance and this will assistance keep them from using the gardens as litterboxes. Maybe you lot could strategically place them on your roof.
Maybe get a few milk jugs and place a rock in the bottom of each one to proceed them from bravado away and pour moth assurance on pinnacle of the stone. You may merely need one or two virtually the area the cat gets up onto the roof.

I live in the tropics and peels would clog my gutters and moth balls would kill my turtles the hose motion detector seems like a good idea but I have tin vaulted ceilings that ascent from three to 5 meters and nosotros have birds that lived and some visit since the true cat came and started killing them. The possessor doesnt intendance or exercise anything. Considering the roof is tin it sounds very loud. Can I electrify my roof to zap them buggers off without killing them. Also volition a bb gun scare or kill a true cat.

Delight do not use a BB gun on a cat. It could impale or seriously injure a true cat or any minor beast.

My cat has been on my & neighbor's roofs 5x in 2 months since I moved. Ive had to rescue him each time only this time is the last. He sits up in that location meowing a death meow. Well, I'yard the 1 suffering since he shredded my arm into a bloody mess when i got him down.
Had to accept a rum shot to numb the pain. Side by side time, he's on his own, pelting or shine. I did cut his nails though. Maybe he'll climb less. Now, he's all trying to love on me. Aww...cat owners are suckers. Dogs dominion.

Try chicken wire as a wall to stop him from jumping from wall or shed to roof. Its lightweight, allows wind to laissez passer through but keeps it shape. Has to be placed correct on the border of the roof (cats only demand a few inches to state). Make certain it is tall enough they cant but bound over from the wall. They are amazing athletes!
